A dream route in the footsteps of Heroes

After 14 wonderful kilometers, in the middle of nature, one enters the territory of Phalanthos.

It is a dream route.

nature embraces

All the villages are exceptionally preserved from an architectural point of view. Stone-built houses, well-crafted fountains and of course a historic plane tree in every square, a meeting point for locals and visitors. And of course nature embraces all these villages. Running waters, small rivers, old watermills, centuries-old trees, create landscapes of incredible beauty every season.

Davia, or rather the Davies, since it is divided into Upper and Lower territory, was an important religious and artistic center in the Middle Ages. The many churches are all true jewels.

Hospitality

The taverns of the area are famous for their unique recipes and have fanatical fans. The people of Phalanthos are extremely hospitable. It is of course an extremely heroic place, with a great contribution to the revolution. This intense past, evident everywhere, blends harmoniously with today's reality.

From Davia you can reach the wonderful Chrysovitsi, one of the most mountainous villages of the Peloponnese. Its distance from Tripoli is only 21 kilometers. The Forestry History Museum operates here, in the historic building that was a timber factory until 1972. Chrysovitsi is drowned in fir trees and the route to get here is delightful.

Falanthos

Arriving in Falanthos, one must definitely visit the unique Arkudorema. It is a primeval place. The old Arcadians themselves, when they wanted to define the man who is innocent and lives according to nature, said that it is as if he came from Arkudorema. Lair of Kolokotronis, but also lair of nymphs and theaines, it is a heavenly place. The remarkable Church of the Dormition of the Virgin is another reason to come here and get lost in the metaphysical magic of the place. In Falanthos, seven kilometers from Arkudorema, is the unique Limbovisi, the village that gave birth to Kolokotronis. The renovated ancestral home of the old man of Moria and the church of Agios Ioannou with its centuries-old history are places of pilgrimage for a large number of visitors. In the cool square, a model recreation area has been operating since 2006, which also supplies local, pure products to visitors.

"Not the houses you burned for us, only stone upon stone not to be left, we do not worship. Even if you cut down and burn our trees, the earth does not want you to lift them and the same earth that nourished them, this earth remains ours and destroys them. If only one Greek remains, they will always fight and do not hope that you will make the land yours. Get it out of your mind."

That was the response of the Great Kolokotronis to the ultimatum sent to him by the ferocious Ibrahim. This voice still echoes in Kolokotrona's hideouts, and whoever wanders into them will feel a part of history.
